Preliminary Alternatives Screening Report
Where We Are Now
- The Link 101 project is evaluating options to improve connectivity and safety for travelers in southeast Indiana.
- In July 2023, the project team introduced 10 preliminary alternatives.
- Based on public input, two additional alternatives - Alternatives K and L – were developed focused on increasing the use of existing roadways.
- Four alternatives are recommended to be carried forward for evaluation: Alternatives B, C, G and H.
Alternatives Recommended to Be Carried Forward
The Project Team is recommending these alternatives be carried forward for further analysis:
- Alternative B
- Alternative C
- Alternative G
- Alternative H
These alternatives represent a range of potential solutions including:
- A range of termini on US 50 from Cole Lane to Versailles Options that range from entirely existing roadways (Alternative G) to entirely new alignment (Alternative B) Safety by reducing travel on roads with elevated crash rates Time savings of up to 13 minutes to destinations along US 50 Lower to modest costs
The project team considered dozens of factors when screening preliminary alternatives, including Draft Purpose and Need, Transportation Performance, Community and Environmental Impacts and Project Costs.
